Derek has been a regular reviewer of cars, trucks and SUVs since 2001. He is the former Managing Editor for Postmedia Network's Driving (driving.ca), where he managed the budget and oversaw all content on driving.ca as well as the print and online driving sections of Postmedia's 10 daily newspapers in Canada, including: National Post, Montreal Gazette, Ottawa Citizen, Windsor Star, Saskatoon StarPhoenix, Regina Leader-Post, Calgary Herald, Edmonton Journal, Vancouver Sun and Province.
Derek is based in Ottawa, Ont. He was the winner of the 2011 Journalist of the Year award and has won numerous other journalism and writing awards.
He currently runs a successful construction and home-renovation business in addition to his writing.
