Gerry Malloy was an automotive journalist for more than 30 years before retiring in 2023. He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering and, before turning to journalism, spent more than 20 years as an automotive test-and-development engineer, both within a major automaker and as proprietor of an independent engineering business whose clientele comprised most of the world’s major automakers.

He is a three-time winner of the Automobile Journalists AJAC Automotive Journalist of the Year award, and the recipient of multiple other awards for automotive writing.

As a journalist, he was a regular contributor to the Toronto Star Wheels section for 26 years, founding editor of Canadian Auto Dealer magazine and Autofile.ca, technical editor of Carguide, World of Wheels, and Canadian Auto World magazines, and A contributor to several other publications.

He has been a member of AJAC since 1991 and served on both the AJAC Board and Canadian Car of the Year Board for several terms. He is also a founder and President of the World Car Awards.

The majority of our journalists test-drive, and report on, new vehicles on an on-going basis in various media across the country.
